Environmental Monitoring

Environmental Monitoring involve systematic sampling, measurement, analysis and reporting of environmental conditions to identify pollution, assess environmental impacts and demonstrate regulatory compliance. They commonly cover air, water, soil, noise, emissions, and sometimes biological/ecological parameters.

Environmental monitoring commonly involves parameters and procedures prescribed or guided by bodies such as the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and State Pollution Control Boards. CPCB publishes technical guidance covering areas such as ambient air monitoring, water-quality monitoring, noise monitoring and continuous monitoring systems.

The monitoring methodology should be selected according to the specific industry, project, environmental component, applicable consent/approval conditions, and current requirements of the relevant regulatory authority rather than applying one generic monitoring schedule to every facility.

Typical Services:

  • Ambient Air Quality Monitoring: PM₂.₅, PM₁₀, SO₂, NO₂, CO, ozone, VOCs
    and other pollutants.
  • Stack/Emission Monitoring: Measurement of industrial and combustion-
source emissions such as particulate matter, SO₂, NOx and CO.
  • Water & Wastewater Monitoring: pH, BOD, COD, TSS, nutrients, metals,
    microbiological and other chemical parameters.
  • Soil & Sediment Testing: Heavy metals, pesticides, hydrocarbons, nutrients
    and other contaminants.
  • Noise Vibration Monitoring: Environmental, construction and workplace
    noise levels.
  • Indoor Air Quality: CO₂, particulate matter, VOCs, gases and ventilation-
    related parameters.
  • Hazardous/Solid Waste Analysis: Characterization and testing for safe
    handling and disposal.
  • Environmental Baseline Studies: Data collection before construction or
industrial development, often supporting environmental impact
    assessments.
  • Continuous/Real-time Monitoring: Sensor-based systems for detecting
    changes, exceedances and pollution events.
